Small carriers do the dispatcher's job themselves, at night, after driving all day.

Finds loads on the boards. Calls brokers and haggles the rate. Books the load and sends the driver the stop. Does the check calls. Handles detention and lumpers. Sends the rate con, BOL, and invoice. Chases the bank and the factor for the money.
